U.S. EXPORT SALES FOR WEEK ENDING 4/11/2024

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 333,900 pieces for 2024 were down 19 percent from the previous week and 1 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases primarily for China (250,800 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 5,200 pieces), Mexico (34,400 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 600 pieces), South Korea (24,000 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 400 pieces), Italy (8,600 whole cattle hides), and Thailand (8,600 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 200 pieces), were offset by reductions for Japan (100 pieces) and Turkey (100 pieces). Exports of 324,000 pieces were down 15 percent from the previous week and 10 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hides exports were primarily to China (227,000 pieces), Mexico (39,000 pieces), South Korea (26,000 pieces), Vietnam (9,400 pieces), and Brazil (9,000 pieces).

Net sales of 244,300 wet blues for 2024 were up noticeably from the previous week and up 88 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases primarily for China (133,900 unsplit), Vietnam (86,600 unsplit, including decreases of 100 unsplit), Thailand (8,400 unsplit and 6,800 grain splits), Brazil (13,300 unsplit, including decreases of 200 grain splits), and Taiwan (7,600 unsplit), were offset by reductions for Italy (9,100 unsplit and 8,600 grain splits) and Hong Kong (200 unsplit). Total net sales of 16,000 unsplit for 2025 were for Italy. Exports of 137,000 wet blues were down 2 percent from the previous week, but down 3 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Vietnam (38,500 unsplit), China (38,000 unsplit), Italy (27,900 unsplit), Thailand (20,300 unsplit), and Hong Kong (5,800 unsplit). Net sales of 88,300 splits primarily for China (88,200 pounds), were offset by reductions for Vietnam (1,700 pounds). Exports of 204,800 splits were primarily to Vietnam (163,500 pounds).
