Lack of demand and increased use of fake leather contribute to overabundance of hides in landfills

There is currently an overabundance of cattle hides ending up in landfills. This is due to a lack of demand and increased use of fake leather, which is primarily made of plastic.

While the fashion and automotive industries could turn the trend around, that has yet to be the case.

President of the Leather and Hide Council of America, Steve Sothmann spoke with RFD-TV’s own Janet Adkison on how we got to this situation and labeling concerns.
